My next finish is QS Libra - by Sara Butcher. Sara is another of my favourite artists, and I love her art with a passion! There is something really 'delicate' about her pieces, and I love the faces of her fairies!! Well Libra took me a long time to complete as the detail on this one was intense!!!!!! I cannot stress enough how much confetti there was in her hands alone!!! But I think you will agree that the detail is stunning - and well worth the time and effort. I love how Libra turned out - and cannot wait to get this one framed and displayed! She really was a labour of love xxx
After only stitching easy designs for years, in 2010 I discovered the Heaven & Earth Designs website. HAED charts are HUGE and detailed! But this detail is achieved by only stitching full cross stitches, meaning no fractionals or backstitch EVER! So, as long as you take it stitch by stitch, you will be fine! On my blog I will post pics of my HAED finishes - plus my progress with current and new projects. I hope you like what you see, and will be inspired to give cross stitch a go!

Well it has been a while since I last posted on my Blog - but I do now have some more completed pieces to share. But back to my previous finishes - and this time my 7th HAED finish. This is QS Misty Morning - by the amazing Hannah Lynn. Now Hannah uses thick black outlines in her designs - and this is how most HL fans stitch her art too - first stitch the black outlines - and then colour everything in!! It is very theraputic to stitch like this - and the outlines themselves look fab when completed! I love how Misty turned out - and she certainly won't be my last Hannah Lynn project! In fact - this years HAED BB Sal features a HL ;) - so watch out for another pic soon!!!

My next finish is SK Blue Moon by Linda Ravenscroft - which I stitched for the 2012 HAED BB Sal. This was another real 'confetti' challenge for me - but made easier by the gorgeous colours I was working with. I stitched her on 18 count aida, 2 over 1 full cross stitches - and for once I really enjoyed adding some sparkly threads - as it really made the design 'shimmer'. Blue Moon is still waiting to be framed - but I can't wait to have her on display as I think she is stunning.

Yet another Jasmine Becket-Griffth pic for my next finish! Do you see a common theme running through my Blog yet? LOL! This is SK Rapunzel - and she was an almighty challenge!!! That goldwork nearly drove me crazy - but was so worth it for the detail. Rapunzel was stitched as part of a 6 month Sal on the HAED BB, for the latter half of 2011. As soon as I saw her, I knew I had to stitch her! There was no way I could resist taking part in a JBG Sal!!! Despite the HUGE challenge that she posed, I persevered through the detail and finally finished her just in time for Easter 2012. I am so happy that I decided to stitch her - as I now have another stunning JBG finish for my ever expanding collection!!

Today's pic is something very special to me. This is QS Pale Rose - another design from Jasmine Becket-Griffith. Pale Rose is, to this very day, my very favourite piece of HAED stitching. For a start, it was the first 'round' piece of HAED that I ever stitched - and that in itself was exciting. But the design itself was just such a beautiful work of art to see emerge in cross stitch. There is something particularly powerful in the way that Jasmine designs her characters' eyes - but to then stitch them and watch them come to life is amazing!!! And this probably does explain why most of my HAED stash consists of Jasmine Becket-Griffith charts!! :)

Here is my third HAED finish - QS Terra Fairy Sprite by
Brigid Ashwood. I stitched Terra as part of the HAED Sal for 2011. I stitched my
version of Terra on a piece of 18 count 'Dawn Blush' hand dyed fabric from Dawn
at Crafty Kitten. It's not very clear on the photo, but the fabric was a very
subtle blend of peach tones - which complimented Terra perfectly! Terra was a
joy to stitch - and she is now framed and on display in my lounge at home, for
everyone to admire.
This was my 2nd HAED finish - and a real challenge for me! I stitched SK Sunny - by Myka Jelina - as part of the annual HAED BB Sal for 2010. Every year the HAED Bulletin Board online community runs this 'Stitchalong' scheme - and you choose your preferred design from a selection. Then, each page is released over the course of the year. This was my first Sal - and it was lovely to be working the same design alongside other stitchers. What surprised me the most, was, that despite us all stitching the same design, each and every one looked so different. This was down to fabric choices, and full cross stitches as opposed to tent stitching etc. In the end, after lots and lots of patience and perseverence, I finished Sunny - and felt an overwhelming sense of achievement. I also knew that I was now hooked on this annual Sal - and would not be able to resist taking part for many years to come!!!

This is my first ever HAED finish - and the reason for my addiction!!! She is called TT Purple Dragon - by Jasmine Becket-Griffith. I used 18 count aida for the very first time - and really loved it! She is stitched using 2 over 1 full cross stitches - and I can genuinely say that I loved every single stitch!!! Being my first HAED finish - she will always hold a very special place in my heart!!
